With 50 days remaining until the commencement of Geneva Dry 2026, the global shipping community is preparing for what is anticipated to be the most significant edition of the commodities shipping conference to date. Event organizers have reported record-breaking registration numbers, with more than 220 leading companies already confirmed for the gathering at the Hotel President Wilson on April 28 and 29.
Expanding Capacity for Unprecedented Demand
To accommodate the surge in interest, organizers have collaborated with the venue to expand the conference floor, allowing for a record-setting 900 delegates. According to event director V Subramaniam, the steady influx of registrations from major industry players has already exhausted the initial block of discounted rooms at the host hotel. In response, an additional 185 rooms have been secured at five nearby partner hotels to ensure all attendees have access to proximate accommodations.
High-Profile Speaker Lineup and Charterer Influence
The 2026 speaker roster represents a "who's who" of the dry bulk sector. This year distinguishes itself with an unprecedented number of speakers from the chartering side, featuring executives from global giants such as ADM, Anglo American, Caravel, Trafigura, and Vale. Key industry figures scheduled to speak include:
- Alan Cumming, Head of Dry Freight Shipping at Trafigura
- John A. Xylas, CEO of Ariston Navigation and Chairman of INTERCARGO
- Milena Pappas, Commercial Director of Star Bulk
- Engebret Dahm, CEO of Klaveness Combination Carriers
- Mohammed Bin Battal, President of Bahri Dry Bulk
Specialized Workshops and Strategic Agenda
A notable addition to the program is the "Digital Dry Hard Talk" workshop, scheduled for the morning of April 28. This session is designed to bypass industry buzzwords and offer a critical assessment of which digital solutions are delivering tangible results in the dry bulk theater.
The official conference will open with a welcoming address by Delphine Bachmann, State Councillor for the Department of Economy and Employment. The subsequent sessions will tackle critical industry themes, including:
- Commodities Shipping Outlook and Risk Management
- AI, Digitalization, and the Evolution of the Dry Bulk Workforce
- The Future of Fixing
- Dry Bulk Decarbonization Strategies
- Cargo-specific deep dives into Agri-commodities, Coal, Iron Ore, and Minor Bulks
As the premier global forum for the dry bulk industry, Geneva Dry 2026 is set to provide vital insights into the market trends and technological shifts that will define the sector in the coming years.
