Cyprus Post Tracking
Enter a Cyprus Post barcode to see every scan recorded against the item, live from Cyprus Post.
What the tracking statuses mean
Cyprus Post scans an item at each handover. The wording comes from the international postal standard, so it reads like a warehouse log rather than a delivery update — here is what each stage actually tells you.
Receive item from customer
Cyprus Post has taken the item at the counter. This is the first scan, and the point at which the barcode starts working.
Send item to domestic location
It has left the accepting office and is moving inside Cyprus, usually towards Larnaca for export.
Insert item into bag / Dispatch
It has been bagged for its outbound flight. Expect a quiet spell here — the next scan is usually in the destination country.
Receive item at office of exchange
It has arrived in the destination country and been handed to that country's own postal service.
Handover item to delivery agent
It is out for delivery locally.
Item not delivered / Pending delivery
A delivery attempt failed — nobody in, or a card left. The recipient normally has to arrange redelivery or collect it. This does not mean the parcel is lost.
Deliver item
Delivered. Where the destination country captures one, a signatory name is shown against the scan.
How long should it take?
Within Cyprus, ordinary post is normally next working day, and registered items much the same. To Europe, allow around a week for a small packet once it has left Larnaca, and longer outside Europe. Those are typical times rather than a guarantee — postal services do not offer a delivery commitment the way a courier does, and that is the main practical difference between the two.
If a deadline genuinely matters, a courier with a service commitment is the right choice, and we can price both. Our courier rate calculator gives live rates, and the freight rate calculator covers anything larger than a parcel.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my Cyprus Post tracking number?
It is on the receipt from the counter and on the parcel label. Cyprus Post barcodes follow the international UPU format: two letters, nine digits, then CY — for example LA123456789CY. Registered items usually start with RR.
Why does my tracking number show nothing?
Almost always because the item was handed over very recently and has not been scanned into the system yet. Scans can take a few hours to appear. If nothing shows after a full working day, check the number against your receipt.
Tracking has not updated for several days. Is the parcel lost?
Usually not. The longest gap on a normal international parcel falls between the outbound dispatch from Cyprus and the first scan in the destination country — the item is in the air or inside a sealed bag, and nothing scans it in between. Several days of silence at that stage is ordinary and not by itself a sign of a problem.
Does this work for parcels coming into Cyprus?
Yes, as long as Cyprus Post is carrying the final leg. It is worth tracking on the origin country's postal site as well — each postal service only scans an item while it holds it, so the two together give a fuller picture than either alone.
My parcel is held in customs. What happens now?
Items arriving in Cyprus above the duty-free threshold are held until duty and VAT are settled, and Cyprus Post writes to the recipient with what is owed. If the contents are commercial or the declared value is disputed, a customs broker can clear it on your behalf — that is work we do.
Sending something that has to arrive
Shoham has handled shipping in and out of Cyprus since 1951 — sea and air freight, customs clearance, courier and postal fulfilment. If you ship regularly and find yourself spending time chasing parcels, that is usually a sign the service is wrong for the job rather than that the parcels are unlucky. Talk to us and we will tell you which of the three you actually need.
Tracking data is retrieved live from Cyprus Post. Shoham Logistics is an independent shipping and logistics company and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Cyprus Post; this page is provided as a convenience and the underlying information is Cyprus Post's own.
