Alphamega launches synchronized holiday festivities
On Saturday, 21 November, the four Alphamega hypermarket locations in Engomi, Kapsalos, Paphos‑Afroditi and Astromeriti will transform into seasonal villages, offering a coordinated Christmas programme aimed at families and shoppers across the island.
Key timetable
- 15:00 – 17:30: Stores open their festive décor, with themed activities, live music and culinary workshops.
- 17:30 – 17:45: Simultaneous illumination of the Christmas trees at all four sites, broadcast live via Mix FM.
- 17:45 – 18:30: Santa Claus arrives in Engomi on a Coca‑Cola‑branded truck, distributing gifts to children.
- 18:30 – 19:30: Outdoor screening of the animated film “Klaus” in Engomi, accompanied by popcorn, hot chocolate and blankets.
Family‑focused activities
Each venue will host a range of hands‑on experiences. In Engomi, chefs Stélio Loïzou and Angelos Kallistratis will lead a confectionery workshop where participants can create their own holiday sweets. Kapsalos, Paphos‑Afroditi and Astromeriti will feature festive games, face‑painting, balloon‑craft stations and photo opportunities with Santa.
Logistics and supply‑chain considerations
The coordinated event underscores the importance of efficient seasonal logistics. Alphamega’s central distribution centre has pre‑positioned decorations, foodstuffs and promotional materials to ensure that all four hypermarkets receive identical inventory on time. This approach reduces last‑minute freight movements and aligns with best practices in supply‑chain resilience during peak demand periods.
Community impact
Beyond retail sales, the programme is designed to boost local tourism and strengthen community ties. By synchronising the tree‑lighting ceremony and live radio feed, Alphamega creates a shared experience that links disparate neighbourhoods, echoing the collaborative spirit seen in Cyprus’ maritime and port sectors during the festive shipping season.
Families are invited to don their most festive attire, enjoy the curated entertainment, and celebrate the start of the Christmas period together. As the hypermarkets announce, “Christmas begins at Alphamega,” the message reinforces the role of retail hubs as modern gathering points, much like ports have historically served as gateways for cultural exchange.
