COSCO Shipping Bulk Expands Fleet with New Newcastlemaxes
COSCO Shipping Bulk has signed a contract with CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding for four newcastlemaxes, adding to its growing fleet of dry bulk carriers.
Key Features of the New Vessels
- 210,000 dwt capacity
- Designs prepared for future conversion to methanol or ammonia propulsion
- Delivery expected in 2029
The latest deal is COSCO Shipping Bulk’s second newcastlemax order at Beihai this year, following an order for three ships of the same size in January.
Wider Dry Bulk Ordering Drive
The quartet adds to a wider dry bulk ordering drive across the COSCO group, with COSCO Shipping Development unveiling an RMB8.66bn ($1.27bn) programme covering 24 bulkers that will be leased to a COSCO Shipping Bulk subsidiary on 20-year deals.
