Cyprus Retail Trade Sees Significant Increase
The Cyprus retail trade has experienced a notable surge in recent months, with a 9.8% increase in value and a 7.5% increase in volume compared to the same period last year.

The largest annual increase in value was recorded in fuel sales, with a 20.9% rise, followed by a 12% increase in other household equipment and a 10.1% increase in educational and entertainment products.
Volume Increases
In terms of volume, the largest increase was seen in clothing and footwear, with a 19.4% rise, followed by a 17.6% increase in information and communication equipment and a 13.3% increase in other household equipment.
However, a 3.8% decrease was recorded in fuel sales volume, and a 2.1% decrease in flowers, plants, clocks, jewelry, optical products, and second-hand goods.
Year-to-Date Increase
From January to May 2026, the retail trade value index saw a 7.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025, while the volume index rose by 5.9%.
