EU Trade Update: Q1 2026

The European Union reported a 1.7% increase in imports and a 0.1% decrease in exports in the first quarter of 2026, according to Eurostat.

Trade Partners

China and the US remained the EU's main trade partners, with China being the largest supplier of goods, accounting for 23.1% of total imports, followed by the US with 13.7%.

  • China: 145.3 billion euros (23.1% of total imports)
  • US: 85.9 billion euros (13.7% of total imports)
  • UK: 39.5 billion euros
  • Switzerland: 36.7 billion euros
  • Turkey: 24.6 billion euros

Exports

The US was the main destination for EU exports, accounting for 18.6% of total exports, followed by the UK, Switzerland, China, and Turkey.

  • UK: 88.7 billion euros
  • Switzerland: 57.2 billion euros
  • China: 47.6 billion euros
