G2 Ocean Expands Fleet

G2 Ocean Strengthens Gantry Crane Vessel Fleet

G2 Ocean is adding six new open hatch gantry crane vessels to its pool from 2029, as part of its ongoing fleet expansion plans.

New Vessels and Upgrades

The new vessels will be built at New Dayang Shipbuilding in Yangzhou, China, and will have a deadweight of 65,400 tons. Two of the vessels will be owned by Grieg Maritime Group, while four will be owned by Seaspan and chartered to Gearbulk on bareboat terms.

In addition to the newbuilding programme, G2 Ocean and its pool participants are investing in upgrades to the existing fleet, including the installation of AirWing 20 jet sails on the 49,924dwt general cargo vessel, Star Kirkenes.

Sustainability and Growth

The new vessels will be designed to allow for alternative fuels such as ammonia or methanol, reflecting G2 Ocean's commitment to sustainability. The combined investments demonstrate a long-term commitment by G2 Ocean's shareholders and pool participants to support the company's growth ambitions and evolving customer requirements.
