K Line Expands European Fleet with LNG Dual-Fuel Car Carriers
Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has placed orders for four LNG dual-fuel car carriers aimed at strengthening its short-sea automotive logistics network in Europe. The vessels, each capable of carrying around 1,380 vehicles, will be built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) for K Line’s European subsidiary, K Line European Sea Highway Services (KESS).
Key Features of the Newbuildings
- Ice-classed for European short-sea operations
- 60-tonne straight stern ramps for handling heavy and oversized cargoes
- Designed to broaden cargo opportunities and improve operational versatility
The new vessels will enable K Line to improve its services in the European market, providing customers with more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation options. The use of LNG dual-fuel technology will reduce emissions and minimize the company’s carbon footprint.
