New Mall for Limassol

The Ministry Council has approved the construction of a new mall in Limassol, ending the long battle for the creation of two new malls in the city.

Background

The shareholder group of Nicosia Mall, in collaboration with the Papanthony group, had submitted a proposal for the creation of a modern commercial center on the eastern side of the city.

Another application was also submitted by Atterbury Europe, the owner of the Mall of Cyprus and the Mall of Engomi in Nicosia.

Ministry Decision

The Ministry Council's decision was influenced by the fact that the construction of the new mall will take place within a commercial and industrial zone, specifically in the Agios Athanasios area.

Environmental Impact

According to the environmental impact assessment study published in 2024, the development area is located in the southern part of the Agios Athanasios industrial area and is considered suitable in terms of accessibility, both from the center of Limassol and from the Nicosia-Limassol/Paphos highway.

  • The study also mentions that three new circular nodes will be constructed on the existing road network to manage traffic flow.
  • Access to the proposed mall will be via the existing primary road network in the area.
  • Regulations will be implemented on the roads to facilitate traffic movement and vehicle entry/exit.

Conclusion

The new mall is expected to be a significant development for the city of Limassol, and the ministry's approval is a major step forward for the project.
