OEG Marine expands offshore wind fleet with new CTV order

UK offshore services provider OEG Marine Services has confirmed the acquisition of three crew transfer vessels (CTVs) from Isle of Wight shipbuilder Diverse Marine. The vessels, built to Chartwell Marine’s Brevity SL class, will augment OEG’s existing fleet and are scheduled for delivery throughout 2027.

Technical specifications

  • Length overall: 26 m; Load line length: < 24 m
  • Propulsion: Quad Volvo Penta IPS units, compliant with IMO Tier III emissions standards
  • Hull design: Transom‑mounted Hull Vane foils to enhance fuel efficiency at cruising speed
  • Classification: Bureau Veritas
  • Flag: United Kingdom

All three vessels will be constructed at Diverse Marine’s Cowes facility and will share an identical specification package, ensuring operational consistency across OEG’s offshore wind support activities.

Strategic role in UK wind projects

The new CTVs are intended to service offshore wind construction programmes on the UK’s east coast beginning in 2027. They will operate alongside OEG’s existing Chartwell‑designed vessels, Fulmar and Furioso, which are already engaged in wind farm logistics.

Background and partnership continuity

This order marks the second collaboration between OEG Marine and Diverse Marine, following the delivery of the Fulmar in 2025. The Fulmar has since been deployed to the Inch Cape offshore wind farm in Scotland, delivering reliable crew and equipment transport.

OEG Director Leif Cooper highlighted the performance of the Chartwell design as exceeding expectations, prompting the decision to commission additional vessels from the same builder.

Implications for the maritime sector

The expansion underscores the growing demand for specialised, low‑emission vessels in the offshore wind supply chain. By adopting IMO Tier III‑compliant propulsion and fuel‑saving hull technology, OEG aligns with broader industry goals of reducing carbon footprints while maintaining operational efficiency.

With delivery slated for 2027, the three CTVs will strengthen the UK’s capacity to execute large‑scale wind projects, supporting both construction timelines and the broader transition to renewable energy.
