PepsiCo Appoints Vassos Eliades as Sole Snack Distributor in Cyprus from Feb 2027

PepsiCo Revises Distribution Model in Cyprus

Effective 1 February 2027, PepsiCo will hand over the distribution of its snack portfolio in Cyprus to the local logistics firm Vassos Eliades. The move represents a strategic shift in the multinational’s operating model, aiming to leverage Vassos Eliades’ established warehousing and transportation network across the island.

Key Brands Under the New Arrangement

The partnership covers the full range of PepsiCo’s snack brands that are currently popular with Cypriot consumers:

  • Lay’s – classic potato chips
  • Doritos – flavored tortilla chips
  • Cheetos – cheese‑flavored snacks
  • Quaker – cereals and oat products
  • Snack‑a‑Jacks – corn‑based snack mixes

Implications for Maritime and Inland Logistics

Vassos Eliades operates a multimodal logistics platform that includes a fleet of refrigerated trucks, a network of temperature‑controlled warehouses, and a dedicated container handling team at Limassol and Larnaca ports. By consolidating snack distribution under a single operator, PepsiCo expects:

  • Improved cargo visibility and trace‑ability from vessel discharge to retail shelves.
  • Optimised container utilisation, reducing empty‑container dwell time at Cypriot terminals.
  • Greater predictability in inbound freight schedules, allowing shipping lines to plan slot allocations more efficiently.

Operational Continuity and Consumer Assurance

PepsiCo emphasised that its presence in Cyprus will remain “operationally active” and that the company is committed to ensuring uninterrupted product availability for consumers. The transition will be managed in close collaboration with the island’s port authorities, customs officials, and local freight forwarders to minimise any disruption during the hand‑over period.

Financial Scope of the Deal

Industry analysts estimate the outsourcing agreement to be worth approximately €40 million over its initial term, reflecting the high volume of snack imports that arrive in standard 20‑foot containers. The deal also aligns with broader trends of multinational food companies outsourcing last‑mile logistics to specialised regional partners.

Future Outlook

With Vassos Eliades taking charge of snack distribution, the company plans to introduce advanced supply‑chain technologies, including real‑time temperature monitoring and automated inventory management. These enhancements are expected to bolster the reliability of cargo handling at Cyprus’ main ports and support the island’s broader ambition to become a hub for efficient, value‑added logistics services in the Eastern Mediterranean.
