Price Increases in Cyprus

According to the Consumer Protection Service's Price Observatory, several products have seen significant price increases in May. The largest increase was in the price of sausages, which rose by 6.4% compared to the previous month, and 9.2% compared to May 2025.

Affected Products

  • Sausages: +6.4% (+9.2% compared to May 2025)
  • Frozen fish: +6.3% (-15.3% compared to May 2025)
  • Frozen mollusks and shellfish: +6.1% (-10.9% compared to May 2025)
  • Olive oil: +5.8% (-0.2% compared to May 2025)
  • Canned meat: +5.4% (+7.3% compared to May 2025)

Other products that saw price increases include Cypriot coffee, baby food, eggs, flour, laundry detergents, frozen pasta, soft drinks, toilet paper, and yogurt.

Price Decreases

Some products saw price decreases in May, including fresh vegetables and herbs, fresh fish and shellfish, fresh meat, frozen fish, and sugar.

e-Kalathi Platform

The Consumer Protection Service also noted that the e-kalathi platform, which compares prices across different supermarkets, saw a difference of 11.2% between the most expensive and the cheapest supermarket for a basket of 253 common products.
